Burnside Fifth Model Carbine, c. 1863-65, walnut stock with double cartouche and walnut forend, serial number on frame and block 38276, steel frame marked BURNSIDE'S PATENT/MARCH 25TH, 1856, and on top of the barrel CAST STEEL. 1864, has pivoting block and side screw on the right side of the frame, barrel lg. 21, overall lg. 39 1/2 in.
