Brush Pot in the Form of a Tree Trunk, China, stone, dated 1988, carved to simulate an ancient tree, where the "bark" has peeled away, an incised poem reads, "It is a long way to cultivate one's spiritual well being, but I will persist," signed by the maker, Zhang Hongjiao, as a gift to Xueli Xinli (Kong Yan),on the bottom an inscription from another writer, ht. 7, approx. dia. 6 in.
