German Polychrome-painted Steel and Iron Strongbox, 17th century, hinged rectangular lid with a concealed lock escutcheon, with forged hasps, large escutcheon on faux lock to front, and wrought iron handles, ht. 17 1/4, wd. 35, dp. 19 1/2 in.

Interior with patch to bottom. Scattered loss to painted areas and minor rust spots throughout. Lacking screw to one corner of interior lock (lower left) and lacking screw and pin to the opposite corner (with corresponding hole to top lid). Interior probably repainting.
