George III Mahogany Architect's Desk, England, late 18th century, lift-top with string-inlay and crossbanded veneer to edge, and a central inlaid paterae to center, frieze similarly string-inlaid, with a single drawer and candle slide to one side, raised on square tapering legs, ht. 27, wd. 26, dp. 18 in.
Top surface warped with resulting cracks to panel. Scattered minor losses, patches to veneer. Brackets replaced. Originally had a stretcher (patches to legs where stretcher joined). Crack to interior panel. Back left leg repaired.
