Two Painted Lapped-seam Covered Storage Boxes, America, 19th century, one possibly Shaker with original blue paint on oval box with four slender chamfered fingers secured with copper tacks joining the bent ash sides, with pine top and bottom, the incised initials "JY" centered on the lid, (imperfections),ht. 3, wd. 5 1/2, lg. 8; and a small round box with opposing lapped fingers secured with iron tacks joining the bent maple sides, pine top and bottom, original red paint, ht. 2 1/8, dia. 4 1/4 in.

Blue oval box- paint wear associated with age and use, 1/4 in sliver/chip on box top edge, 1 in. horiz. splint near top edge of box, a few pegs around the bottom are missing so the bottom tilts a little, small cracks and a few slivers of loss around these pegs holding the bottom.
Red round box- good, nice old surface
