Louis Papaluca (Italian, 1890-1934)
Portrait of the Schooner Yacht MIGRANT in a Swell. Signed "L. Papaluca" l.r., titled MIGRANT. N.Y.Y.C. below. Gouache on paper, 19 x 27 3/4 in., in a later molded wood frame; accompanied by two framed photographs of the yacht, one showing the schooner at sea, and one likely taken in Venice. Condition: Two tears at c.l. and c.r.
Note: The New York Yacht Club schooner yacht Migrant was designed by Gillows of Lancaster, England, built by Lawley in Boston in 1929, and was owned by Carl Tucker.
Tear c.l. about 2 in., , tear c.r about 3 in., 1 1/2 in. crease in skyabove bow, not examined out of frame but paper has a slight ripple so it doesn't appear to be laid down.
