Yellow Pine Carved Tall Case Timepiece, William Sharswood, Philadelphia, 1772, the hood with a flat cove cornice above the glazed tombstone door flanked by freestanding columns opening to a silvered engraved brass dial with "Willm Sharswood Philadelphia, 1772" within a circle in the arch, with eight-day brass weight-driven movement, seconds hand and calendar aperture, on a thumbmolded shaped waist door and base with raised panel, on ogee bracket feet, refinished, ht. 91 1/4 in.

The whole clock was once painted a dark color, possibly black - there is evidence of paint in a number of places. There is some wear to the silvering on the dial, where the brass underneath is visible. The feet are replaced, and one hinge in the waist door is replaced. The pendulum is a replacement.
