Three-color Tied-Beiderwand Coverlet, America, dated "1838," two-piece woven red, blue, and green wool and natural cotton, with rows of floral and foliate patterns on the central field, three sides with leafy vine and eight-point star borders, two corner blocks with the name of the probable client and date "HANNAH TRUAX 1838," fringed on three edges, (minor toning, scattered stains and losses),approx. 93 x 86 in.

A few mostly light stains that are barely noticeable on a few of the flowers in the field, losses and fraying to top edge, one near the joinery line about 3 x 1 1/4 at the top, fringe losses.
