Description:

Marquetry and Mother-of-pearl-inlaid Tantalus, Continental, 19th century, with serpentine front, veneered with ebony, satinwood, kingwood, and bird's-eye maple in a foliate motif, on shaped feet, enclosing a gilt-metal stand holding four decanters and sixteen cordials, all of colorless glass with gilding, ht. 10 3/4, wd. 13 1/2, dp. 10 7/8 in.

Lacking key, case does not completely close, the lock does not line up correctly. Scattered patches, cracks, and repairs to veneer. Glass: One glass with possible regilding to foot and one with break just below bowl. (both pieces present.
