George II Sterling Silver Tea Tongs, London, c. 1745, John Gorham, maker, bearing two sets of marks including maker's mark "I.G" and the lion passant standard mark to the inside of each thumb-hole, lacking city and date mark, with spurred circular thumb-holes, scrolled arms, and an engraved monogram "M*R" to the pivot plate, joined to scrolled stems terminating in shell-form grips, lg. 5 in., approx. 1.2 troy oz.
