Description:

Fire Opal and Peridot Earclips, Christopher Walling, each designed as a large paisley with cushion-cut fire opal framed by circular-cut peridot, blackened silver and 18kt gold mounts, lg. 1 1/4 in., signed.

Note: Christopher Walling, a self-taught jeweler, began creating Minoan-style jewelry at the age of eight with twisted telephone wire. An appreciation for minimalism is evident in his jewelry. He often uses baroque pearls in his work, his trademark stone. His creations have been featured in two PBS documentaries; the Nova program, 'Mystique of the Pearl' and the Nature special 'Diamonds.' His jewelry is worn by numerous public figures including Renee Taylor, Danielle Steele, Kathleen Turner, and the late Elizabeth Taylor. Additionally, Walling's work has been exhibited in museums throughout the United States, and an abalone pearl named for him was exhibited at the Smithsonian in Washington D.C.
