Maurice Bompard (French, 1857-1936)

St. Mark's Square in Rain. Signed "Maurice Bompard" l.l. Oil on panel, 13 x 9 1/2 in., framed. Condition: Retouch, varnish inconsistencies and discoloration, mild surface grime.

Provenance: By descent within the family of the artist, from the collection of the late Henry C. Veit, grandson of the artist.

Estimate $700-900

There is pronounces fluorescense under UV light across the entire surface. However, this does not seem to relate to any specific repair, and may be the result of a newly applied varnish layer.
