Identified Roby Model 1860 Light Cavalry Officer's Sword, c. 1863, engraved brass hilt with foliate designs, engraved on handguard Presented to Lieut. J.A. Brownell by N.B.L.D. July 22 1863, shagreen grip with brass wire wrap, steel blade marked U.S., with martial designs, and made by C. ROBY & CO N. CHELMSFORD MASS, scabbard made from steel with engraved brass fittings, blade lg. 34, overall lg. 43 in.

Hilt has light patina, blade is bright with no rust.
