Description:

Identified Civil War Crutch, c. late 19th century, carved wooden crutch with a seated woman shoulder rest, a soldier with musket standing at attention in the center with F.A. Thomas carved into a shoulder strap, and a U.S. on the belt plate, next to the head is carved K 54 N.Y., ht. 32 in.

Note: F. Adam Thomas enlisted in the 54th New York in September of 1861, and mustered out April, 1866 at Charleston, South Carolina.
Estimate $2,000-3,000

Some remnants of blue paint remain on the carved soldier, the bottom of the crutch is missing, some dings in wood.
