Raised Wing Greater Yellowlegs Mantel Figure, Anthony Elmer Crowell (1862-1952),East Harwich, Massachusetts, c. 1930, standing figure depicted preening with one wing raised, one shaped painted feather within its bill, the other wing and the tail with delineated feathers, standing on a rock-form base, original paint, impressed rectangular maker's stamp on bottom, (imperfections),ht. 12 1/2 in.

Tiny chip to raised wing tip, the delineated galvanized metal feather in the bill is is slightly out of position where originally glued; crazing and fading to paint on back side of wings, some flaking on wing joint with a small chip at upper wing joint, thin line of paint loss where neck joined to body, small wood flake on neck about 3/8 in dia., lifting slightly, losses to putty on feet where joined to legs, small paint loss on tops of toenails, varnish irregular.
