Woven Wool and Cotton Coverlet Depicting the "Great Seal" of the United States, reportedly originated from New York State, 1831, one-piece double weave coverlet in navy blue wool and natural cotton, centered with a large round "Great Seal" of the United States with inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA/E PLURIBUS UNUM/1831," bordered by grapevines and surrounded by a field of stylized stars, with wide and narrow foliate borders, and with fringe on one end, (toning, light stains),92 x 72 in.

Minor light stains, missing some fringe, minor losses and fraying to wool on edges, moreso on upper edge, one gouge (loss) 1 1/2 in. x 3/4 on one corner, pleasantly toned natural cotton, fairly unobtrusive loss on one of the small stars about 5/8 x 1/3 in.
