Export Hardwood Scroll Box on Stand, China, 19th century, the rectangular box with scalloped terminals supported on an elaborately carved stand with six legs, the hinged cover carved with dragons amidst clouds and fitted with four metal plaques inscribed with the characters "Pu Tian Tong Qing" (Everyone in Jubilation),with a central circular plaque (missing),the sides of the cover carved with birds and blossoms, the scroll box carved with friezes of Immortals in a celestial banquet scene, the ends depicting pine trees and mythical beasts, the stand embellished with pierced aprons carved with dragons writhing amongst clouds, the ends with pierced decoration of prunus and lotus flowers, supported by six legs surmounted by dragon-heads and claw-and-ball feet, the interior fitted for a large scroll, 33 x 66 x 17 1/2 in.
