Description:

Brunswick-Balke-Collender Co. Oak Pfister Six-leg Combination Pool Table, Boston, 1906, the slate top with circular and diamond mother-of-pearl-inlaid convertible rails, molded copper accents, on a beaded and foliate-carved skirt and legs, together with a ball rack, group of pool cues, bridge, and other accessories, not fully assembled, (imperfections),ht. 33 1/2, wd. 122, dp. 65 in.

Provenance: Purchased by Henry Clay Frick of Prides Crossing, Massachusetts; billiards table accompanied by photocopy of original Brunswick sales receipt. Frick was an American industrialist, financier, and art patron. He founded the H. C. Frick & Company coke manufacturing company, was chairman of the Carnegie Steel Company, and played a major role in the formation of the giant U.S. Steel steel manufacturing concern. He also financed the construction of the Pennsylvania Railroad and the Reading Company.
