Oil on canvas, 24 x 28 1/4 in. (61.0 x 71.8 cm),in a period J.H. Miller Arts & Crafts frame.
Condition: Scattered retouch, craquelure.
Estimate $7,000-9,000

The frame is original to the work, and has been regilt in 22K gold leaf.

The work is not lined in the conventional sense of having been adhered with glue or wax to a new supporting canvas; in this case the original canvas was removed from its stretcher, a new linen canvas was then stretched onto the original stretcher, and then the original canvas was restretched and tacked over the new linen liner, without being adhered to the liner itself.

Retouch primarily clustered in the u.l. corner and down the left edge with a vertical line measuring about 7 inches, and two horizontal parallel lines measuring 3 inches each. A T-shaped area of retouch 1/2 x 3/4 in in the tree top at the top edge. Scattered minor dots of retouch overall. Stable craquelure, located primarily in the center sky and l.l. corner.
