Albrecht Dürer (German, 1471-1528)

The Whore of Babylon, from THE APOCALYPSE, c. 1496-98, published in the Latin edition, 1511 (Bartsch, 73; Meder/Hollstein, 177). Monogrammed in the block, collector's dry stamp l.c. Woodcut on paper, image/sheet size 15 3/16 x 11 in. (38.5 x 27.8 cm),framed.
Condition: Good impression, Latin text on the verso, trimmed approximately 1 cm into the image along the upper edge, all other edges trimmed to the boardline, adhered to a supporting sheet along the left edge on verso.

Provenance: Ex-collection of Alexandre-Pierre-François Robert-Dumesnil (1778-1864),Paris (Lugt, 2200).
