Arts & Crafts Gold Gem-set Necklace, Attributed to John Paul Cooper, the pendant set with cabochon moonstone, emeralds, and sapphires all within a wire, bead, and ropework navette, suspended from a chain of ropetwist links and cabochon moonstones, cabochon emerald and sapphire bosses, all with applied beadwork, lg. 15 1/2, the pendant 1 5/8 in., unmarked.
Note: Pictured in Jewelry & Metalwork in the Arts & Crafts Tradition by Elyse Zorn Karlin, p. 48. The use of beadwork in this necklace stylistically resembles a brooch in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, as does the use of moonstones, and their color combination with the emeralds and sapphires.
