Note: According to the consignor, the cross was obtained in Greece by William Milliken, director of the Cleveland Museum of Art from 1930-1958, and given to Frances M. Francis, wife of Henry Sayles Francis, curator of prints and paintings at the Cleveland Museum of Art from 1930-1970, in the 1950s. The chain was later made for the cross by Robert Lee Morris.
