Short-horned Bull Sculpture. Inscribed "by Frank Moscow" on base. Fully carved walnut figure on a relief-carved base with vegetation and rocky terrain, ht. 18 1/2, wd. 8, lg. 24 in. Condition: Very good, minor shrinkage cracks on base.
Provenance: Family descent to the consignor. It is reported that the sculpture was carved by Frank Moscow, a decorative wood carver employed by a couple to ornament furniture purchased for their new home in Stoughton, Massachusetts, c. 1928. Moscow gave the couple the carving of the bull in thanks for letting him stay at their home during the time it took to ornament their furniture.
