Chippendale Carved Birch Slant-lid Desk, probably Newburyport, Massachusetts, early 19th century, the lid opens to a stepped and cockbeaded interior of three carved drawers and four valanced compartments above five drawers, with two projecting drawers and large compartment below, all on cockbeaded case of four graduated drawers and cabriole legs ending in claw-and-ball feet, centering a shell-carved drop, some original brass, old surface, (imperfections),ht. 44, wd. 40 1/2, dp. 19 1/2 in.
