Miniature Needlework Adam and Eve Sampler, "Dinah Johnston 1792," finely stitched silk threads on a linen gauze ground, depicting a pious verse over central Adam and Eve figures beside a tree with birds perched on the branches, surrounded by an assortment of motifs including cherubs with goblets, two hearts, baskets of fruit, potted plants, stags, dogs, and birds, enclosed in a zigzag vine border, (minor toning, a few minute losses on edges),6 1/4 x 4 1/4 in., unframed.

The colors of the threads remain remarkably vibrant, it appears the sampler was possibly originally spot-glued on the corners and stitched onto paper, with a remnant of the paper remaining, two corners with small losses. There is also loss to the grey-blue border thread.
