Description:
Two Early Bronze and Brass Hourglasses, a bronze-framed hourglass, probably France or Germany, c. 1780, with six thin rods joining hexagonal ends with molded edges and shaped and pierced collars, and engraved with trefoil and scrolled foliage designs, with two bulbed ampules joined at the center with cotton or linen twine, ht. 4 7/8; and a brass-cased hourglass, possibly England or America, 19th century, probably for traveling or nautical use with protective two-part cylindrical case which twists to oblong openings for viewing the double-bulbed hourglass joined at the center, (minor dents),ht. 6 1/4 in.
