Painted Carved Wood and Tin Figural Whirligig, late 19th century, carved wooden figure with tin shako cap, pressed brass blossom applied to chest, blue glass bead eyes, and tin paddle arms, and applied canvas trousers, painted dark red, white, and black, mounted on a turned baluster-turned post, (losses),ht. 25 1/8 in.
Estimate $4,000-6,000

Most of the visor is worn off/missing from cap, nose is joined to head, and may have been repaired, trousers are missing sections of canvas, the front (toe) of one boot is missing, a 3 x 3/4 in area is missing on the baluster finial base edge.
