Grenfell Pictorial Hooked Rug with Dog Sled Scene, Grenfell Labrador Industries, Newfoundland and Labrador, early 20th century, the rectangular rug composed of bleached and dyed rayon and silk strips hooked onto a burlap backing, depicting a figure on a komatik pulled by a team of five dogs and another figure running beside the sled, in a northern landscape with pine trees, the dogs hooked with sisal in shades of brown, woven maker's label affixed to the reverse, 26 x 39 1/2 in.

Provenance: Family descent from the original owner who worked at the Grenfell mission after graduation from Westover School in Middlebury, Connecticut.
