Description:

Two George IV Sterling Silver Serving Platters, each London, 1826-27, each oval with a shaped, gadrooned rim; the smaller, Richard Sibley I, maker, with engraved armorials to each side of rim, underside additionally marked "MAKEPEACE/LONDON" and with incised weight marks, lg. 17 3/4; the larger, maker's mark "HI," engraved with a monogram and a crown to rim, with additional incised weight marks, lg. 19 3/4 in., approx. 119 troy oz. total.
Estimate $2,000-3,000

Each with surface abrasions, surface irregularities (stored in saran wrap) and small spots of corrosion. Larger of the two with intentional symmetrical abrasions to underside (as is it sat on a stand, though no evidence of repairs or restorations.)
