Italian Rococo Inlaid Walnut Chest of Drawers, late 18th century, bombe-form, with four graduated drawers and a discreet spring-release drawer to each side, inlaid throughout with olive wood and faux-ivory motifs including floral and foliate scrolls to drawer fronts and figural scenes to the top and each side, raised on squat cabriole feet, ht. 36 1/2, wd. 57 1/2, dp. 25 in.

Secret drawer to right side does not open, also with losses to veneer along the edge of the drawer front. All feet with stabilizing metal bracket, two feet on right side with additional repaired breaks. Lacking hardware throughout, with associated minor loss (particularly along key holes where there are also veneer patches). Veneer dry and cracking throughout (the left side of the central medallion with 8 inch crack to veneer through faux-ivory inlaid hand, bone subsequently cracked and lifting). Faux-ivory inlay discolored throughout with some areas of flaking to surface discoloration. Scattered loss to veneer along drawer fronts (some included). Faux-ivory with apparent striations, though too discolored on the surface to accurately determine material.
