Scandinavian Painted Pine Corner Cupboard, Denmark or Sweden, dated 1849, red paint in simulated wood grain pattern, in two parts, the upper section with molded cornice over two doors painted with the date amidst a band of foliage, the doors further decorated with fluted panels and enclosing a shelved interior, over a shallow open compartment with scrolled brackets, the lower section with two molded doors enclosing an open interior, ht. 87, wd. 56 1/2, dp. 33 1/2 in.
Damage/wear to base, particularly to the lower left. Scattered nicks and loss to paint, particularly to the lower center of both upper doors. Separation to cornice molding upper right. This piece was likely build for the corner of a specific room, as one side is shorter than the other.
