Description:

Quarter-plate Daguerreotype of Rev. David Young of East Pittston, Maine, the sitter identified in inscriptions on a paper accompanying the image, the gentleman portrayed seated with his spectacles resting on his head, his finger holding a place in his book, in a pressed-paper/leather case, (light vertical scratches, mat scratches, scattered spiders and dust, case split).

Note: Reverend Young was born July 24, 1779, in Pittston, Maine. He married Sarah Colburn (b. 1782) on September 9, 1802. He was the minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Pittston for 40 years and died there on June 11, 1848, at the age of 69.
