Half-plate Ambrotype of a Painted Portrait of a Ship's Captain, the gentleman painted wearing c. 1820 clothing, holding a spyglass and with a small ship painted in the background l.r., in a pressed-paper/leather case, (some varnish separation to back of photo, case split).
Image with area of cloudy darkness in lower left quadrant. Lower edges of image minorly lightstruck. Scratches, losses and minor pitting to gilt frame. Minor wear to velvet interior of case. Overall sound condition.
