Three Sixth-plate Daguerreotype Portraits of a Young Couple and Two Young Girls, the first a young bearded gentleman seated beside his wife who is wearing a dress with a lace collar and a plaid skirt; a young girl standing, wearing an off-the-shoulder plaid dress; and a toddler girl wearing a fancy lacy bonnet and a plaid dress, identified in inscriptions on the casemaker's paper label: "Helen J. Bancroft/2Years 8 Mos. & 9 days old/Taken Nov. 20th, 1853"; mounted in eight-sided "Scroll," "Scroll," and "Scroll/Geometric" (Krainik 359, 360, 350), Union cases, (imperfections).
Couple- tarnish ring, scattered spiders, dust, few spots of corrosion.
Girl- wiped, scattered trnish spots, dust, irregularity to image at lower third with some sort of flower pattern superimposed on the portrait.
2 yr. old Girl- Tarnish ring, light scratches upper third, and around edges.
