Pair of Ivory Covered Censers with Pedestals, China, 19th century, each covered with finely carved and openwork floral and foliate scrolls, the four-tier jar with two openwork handles with a loose ring in each, an array of lotus lappets and a border of meander motif along the round base, the domed cover with flange to sit on the inner flange of the jar, on the cover a finial carved in the shape of a lotus flower with seedpod, with a lozenge-shaped wood stand decorated with metal inlay along the carved shapes and lines, ht. 6 3/4, lg. 8 1/2; stand ht. 1 3/4, lg. 6 1/2 in.
In good condition with fine scratches from use, deterioration and discoloring of ivory from aging, dirts on some areas, natural brownish patina.
