Pair of Chair Covers, China, 18th/19th century, each embroidered in gold-wrapped threads on a faded red ground with a shou character flanked by clouds at the top and an elephant to the chair back; the seat embellished with a roundel comprising a central peach with bats, bamboo, and flowers, and the front with bats amidst lotus sprigs growing from rocks above rolling waves, all within a fret border, 64 1/4 x 19 3/8 in.
