Attributed to Mary Schreyer (German, 19th/20th Century)
Landscape with a Figure on Horseback. Stamped "Ad. Schreyer" l.r., estate stamped "...Nachlass Versteigerung Adolf Schreyer" on the reverse. Oil on canvas, 12 3/4 x 23 in., unframed. Condition: Varnish inconsistencies, surface grime.
N.B. Mary Schreyer was the wife and former student of the artist Adolf Schreyer (French/German, 1828-1899). Upon Schreyer's death, many of the works sold in his 1922 estate sale by the Frankfurt firm Rudolf Bangel (Künstlerischer Nachlass Professor Adolf Schreyer) were in fact by his wife, who painted in the manner of her husband.
