Alexander the First, Emperor of all the Russians, published by Colnaghi & Co., Cockspur Street, London, c. 1814, the engraving depicting the tsar in half-length, dressed in military uniform, with his hand resting on a book, framed, approx. plate size 17 1/2 x 13 1/4, frame 35 x 29 in.
Provenance: Purchased from Grosvenor Prints, London. A copy of the Grosvenor receipt, which accompanies the lot, claims the engraving belonged to the estate of the 4th Baron de Saurmarez (1843-1937),who inherited it through marriage from Sir William Fowle Middleton.
