N.B. The firm Wailes and Strang descended from the original stained glass firm founded by William Wailes in Newcastle-on-Tyne in 1838. After the death of William Wailes in 1881, the firm continued to make stained glass under the leadership of Thomas Rankine Strang (1835-1899),the son-in-law of William Wailes, with Margaret Janet Wailes, Waile's daughter and Strang's wife, acting as a designer.
