Description:

Iron Breastplate, Backplate, and Burgeonet, possibly 17th century, both plates formed from a single piece of iron, the breastplate having the pronounced ridge or tapul running through the center, flared neck and waist lines, stamped initials either RB or AB near the left side of neck line, attached by leather straps and buckles (replacements),the lobster-tail burgeonet with riveted umbril or brim covering both the eyes and neck, the hinged eye brim with three-arm face guard, and ridge running from front to back, ht. 13 in.

Note: Reportedly found in Connecticut and believed to have been used in America in the early colonial period.
