To Josiah Bushnell Grinnell (1821-1891),member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Iowa, written by Buchanan as Secretary of State, from the State Department, Washington, D.C., acknowledging Grinnell's letter about the claim of Captain Eliphalet Robbins; old folds, 8 x 10 in.
Grinnell was the man to whom Horace Greeley advised a westerly course.
