Hanau-type Silver Covered Jug, probably Germany, late 19th/early 20th century, the domed lid with urn-form finial, flaring body with repousse oval profile portraits of a man and woman, spout and knees with male masks, on four slim paw feet, and ebonized heat stops, marked with three hearts, crowned "N," and a bird, ht. 7 7/8 in., approx. 16.5 troy oz.

Cover replaced. Two solder markes to outside of body surrounding male portrait. Damage to right side of mask at spout. Solder mark to exterior of seam beneath spout at base. Scattered pitting and surface abrasions.
