German Commemorative Tankard, Berlin, mid-late 19th century, with a 12 loth standard mark, "Wilm.Berlin" and assayer marks "L" and "D;" decorated with helmet finial, rocaille C-scroll handle, registers of stylized strapwork motifs, a central raised armorial, and German inscription to rim commemorating the fallen soldiers of a battle from 1857; the interior is gold-washed with an engraved medallion to the underside of the lid with the names of the soldiers, ht. 9 1/2 in., approx. 21 troy oz.
