Sunbathers, c. 1936
Unsigned, inscribed "Sunbath smaller version" on the stretcher.
Oil on canvas, 18 1/8 x 30 1/8 in. (46.0 x 76.5 cm), framed.
Condition: Minor surface grime, subtle rippling.

Provenance: Weyhe Gallery, New York; Estate of Charles Rand Penney (1923-2010), Lockport, New York.

N.B. The present work relates to two print versions of the same title, an etching with aquatint and a wood engraving.

Canvas deformation to l.l. corner. Varnish inconsistencies, including drips of varnish to u.l. quadrant. Surface grime, with a drip of foreign matter u.l. quadrant measuring about 4 inches in length.
