Attributed to Benjamin West (American, 1738-1820)

Study for Una and the Lion
Unsigned, identified on a label from Davis Galleries, New York City, affixed to the
frame backing.
Pencil and chalk on paper, 6 x 7 in. (15.0 x 18.0 cm), framed.
Condition: Creases, gently light-struck, sheet trimmed and hinged to window mat with cellophane tape.

Estimate $1,000-1,500

Verso with three small figure studies.

Paper is creased across the middle on both axes and with a horizontal crease along the bottom edge 3/8 inch up from bottom and a "dog ear" crease at l.l. corner. Tap remnants along top edge, verso.
