Terrier with Game
Possible signature "...ard" l.r.
Oil on canvas, 21 1/2 x 30 1/2 in. (54.5 x 78.0 cm), framed.
Condition: Retouch, craquelure.

Provenance: The collection of Louis D. "Bud" Root (1922-2009).

Painting is held into frame with plastic tape applied around the stretcher and crossing the reverse in a grid, but not touching the back of the canvas.

Retouch as follows: three broad areas to u.l. corner measuring 6 x 5 inches, 5 x 2-3/4 inches, and 2 3/4 x 2 1/2 inches, all contained within an area measuring 10 x 8 inches overall; over an area of surface alligatoring in the l.l. corner measuring 4 x 10 inches with retouch applied in broad strokes and also to strengthen the belt buckle; scattered minor retouch u.c. and also on the terrier's back quarters, mainly to fill craquelure. Craquelure is stable.
