Miniature Portrait of a Young Man. Unsigned, the subject identified in inscriptions on the backboard: "John Ware 1830 Age 20." Watercolor on ivory, 4 3/8 x 3 3/4 in., in a deep molded giltwood frame. Condition: Paint loss l.l.

The paint is a little smeary on the top of his head and right-facing shoulder, which appears to have been done by the artist to change the shape.
