Carved Foot for a Queen Anne High Chest by the Bartlett School of Cabinetmakers, Salisbury, New Hampshire, 18th century, with red stain, ht. 10 3/4 in.
Provenance: Bought from Ike Paine, Bristol, New Hampshire. Ike was one of the best pickers in central New Hampshire and a true gentleman.
Literature: The foot is pictured and discussed in Some Queen Anne Furniture from New Hampshire's Federal Period. Identified with Help from Peter Bartlett (1788-1838),M.D., of Salisbury, by Walter A. Backhofen, self-published, 1988.
