Condition: Canvas trimmed of tacking edge and lined, small area of retouch l.r.

N.B. This painting will be included in the forthcoming catalogue raisonné of the work of Jasper F. Cropsey, in preparation by the Newington-Cropsey Foundation, Hastings on Hudson, New York.

According to Kenneth Maddox, this painting is the only extant painting by Cropsey painted in Scotland during his month-long stay there. Later, in Rome, the artist developed a number of his Scottish sketches into paintings.
