Description:

Philippe Noyer (French, 1917-1985)

Nu sur plage, alternatively titled Nu de fillette
Signed and dated "Ph. Noyer. 52" l.r., identified on labels from Mirador Galerie
d'Art, Paris, and Julius Fleischmann, Cincinnati, Ohio, and with labels from the University of Cincinnati Fine Arts Collection affixed to the reverse.
Oil on canvas, 21 x 25 1/2 in. (53.3 x 64.8 cm), framed.
Condition: Minor surface grime.
Estimate $2,000-3,000

Scattered pinpoint-size paint losses, one in the center in the sky just to the right of the figure's shoulder, one in the barrel, one on the wooden bars where they cross the ship's mast in the background. Scattered minute dots of dark paint that do not fluoresce and are probably original to the work. Largest such dot is visible above the sea gull's head top center. Canvas slightly loose on stretcher, would benefit from being keyed out. Discolored varnish evident at top edge near the frame liner.
